IGD's Feeding Britain's Future initiative is designed to help young pre-employed and unemployed people understand the careers available in the food and grocery industry and to develop their employability skills. 

The participants are invited to attend voluntary workshops at employer premises throughout Skills for Work Month, which is 2016 is between 12th September and 14th October. 

The workshops cover a wide varity of topics. Examples of what sessions employers may offer includes:



  • Taking participants through your online job application process - including top tips for standing out/best practice 
  • Role play interviews (e.g. telephone interviews)
  • Light touch work experience (e.g. job shadowing)
  • Site tours and meeting the team to understand their roles and key skills needed
  • Insight into the food and grocery industry and the vast array of jobs available
