Symbol Groups 2013

About this event

Following the success of 2012’s inaugural Symbol Summit, we’re pleased to announce a one-day deep-dive into the opportunities and challenges facing symbols and their suppliers, with detailed sessions from four of the most successful and progressive operators, Nisa, Costcutter, SPAR UK and Premier.

We’ve followed the development of the convenience channel for over fifteen years and throughout that period the symbol group segment has been a major growth driver. 40% of convenience sales go through symbol stores, equivalent to £13.6bn in value terms – a huge opportunity for suppliers.

This is key date for the diary for all commercial directors, account management teams and category insights specialists, and ideal for businesses looking to build trading relationships and capability in the symbol segment.

Ahead of the event on 8 May, take a look inside this Nisa Local in Hemel Hempstead, where IGD’s David Shukri demonstrates how symbol stores are increasing their appeal to convenience shoppers.

Feedback from last year's event

Great format: The IGD view of the future of the Channel then the Symbol groups’ interpretations and plans.

All participants clearly outlined strategies, enabling suppliers to address the customer needs and aspirations.

I really valued the opportunity to benchmark the symbol groups 'live'. Interesting to see and compare the variations in operations, strategies and general overviews from each group...and of course network with groups and suppliers.

It was great to get a multitude of views from industry bodies and experts as well as key symbols groups in 2 days rather than having multiple meetings over a long period of time.
