After a second successful year, the ECR Horizons programme is set to conclude on the 5th October, with the finale taking place at Procter & Gamble’s offices in Weybridge.

Having doubled in size for 2016, this year’s programme consisted of 40 candidates from 20 different companies, all of whom have attended events up and down the country expertly organised and delivered by a dedicated team of retailers, manufacturers and food service companies.

The events are designed to inspire whilst helping participants broaden their knowledge, expand their networks and ultimately, fulfil their potential. Candidates work on a project throughout the programme which pulls elements from each event together, culminating in a presentation at the final event. This approach helps to cement learnings, and provides opportunities to work collaboratively and to build relationships that will endure beyond Horizons and into the future.

This year, the programme has continued to deliver, owing its success to the companies and individuals who go above and beyond to coordinate and deliver outstanding events.

Each company involved in Horizons co-hosts an event and in return nominates two high potential candidates for the programme. In addition, these companies help shape the programme, meeting regularly to ensure Horizons continues to flourish.

Events consist of a mix of activities designed to improve candidates’ supply chain skills, helping them to grow. This is complemented by a range of soft skills sessions, which focus on developing the necessary behaviours needed to succeed.

2017 and beyond

Looking ahead, we want to ensure we provide opportunities to as many people as possible. To meet this objective, we aim to grow Horizons again next year and are on the hunt for new companies to get involved!

Companies wishing to join will need to work with a co-host to plan and deliver a compelling event for candidates. In return, these companies can nominate two colleagues to join the 2017 programme.

It’s a great opportunity to help your colleagues develop the skills needed to thrive, with the whole programme delivered by businesses that really understand the key challenges. At the same time, you get to showcase your business, but it does require commitment, dedication and creativity; all characteristics that have made Horizons what it is today.

ECR UK

Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) is run by IGD in the UK. It is steered by a board drawn from across the industry. Our various workgroups are involved in supply chain improvements, focusing on using collaboration to fulfil shopper wishes better, faster and at less cost.
