Staying on track
How we're governed
IGD is an education and training charity for the food and grocery industry that undertakes research for the benefit of the public. Our Trustees are some of the industry’s most experienced people and have a blend of skills and experience. Our charitable activities are funded through a trading company, governed by our external board of directors. Trustees exercise oversight and scrutiny in relation to IGD’s charitable activities, including monitoring progress against the targets which the Trustees set and ensuring IGD’s charitable activities sit within its constitution. The Trustees also ensure that IGD’s trading is sustainable and agree the annual Budget.
Our senior leadership team comprises the Chief Executive and her direct reports. They are responsible for the day to day management of IGD and carrying out the activities agreed with the Trustees.
Our Chief Executive

This includes roles from trading, retailing and supply chain, to change management and commercial projects at the British retailer Marks & Spencer. At IGD, Joanne spends her time engaging with senior members of businesses and major institutions. Joanne was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) honour for services to the food and grocery industry.
