Working in Partnership

At IGD (Institute of Grocery Distribution), we serve as a unique, impartial force for good, driven by our charitable status and commitment to public benefit.  Our purpose is clear: to unite and inspire everyone to deliver a thriving food system. We achieve this by acting as a trusted convener, uniting stakeholders from across the entire agrifood supply chain to address critical challenges.
We foster collaboration through a broad range of forums, bringing together businesses, policymakers, and thought leaders. By providing evidence-based insights, credible research, and strategic foresight, we help organisations make informed decisions that not only benefit their operations but also contribute to the collective good of society.

This is funded through our work with hundreds of clients from across the global food and consumer goods landscape.

IGD Industry Forums

Industry Forums are central to IGD’s role as a convener of industry leaders, driving action and influencing change. Current forums include:

  • Chief Executives Forum
  • Food System Change Leaders Forum
  • People Leaders Forum
  • Tecnical Leaders Forum
  • Nutrition Leaders Forum

The agendas and programmes for these Forums are aligned with IGD’s areas of focus – five priorities for a thriving food system:

  1.   Driving economic growth – unlocking the potential of food
  2.   Building resilience – strengthening the food system for the future
  3.   Accelerating a sustainable transition – driving progress towards net zero
  4.   Developing a workforce for the future – attracting talent, developing our people, addressing future skills gaps
  5.   Securing a healthier future – meeting changing diet and well-being needs

The role of IGD Industry Forums:

  • Identify opportunities for collective action to progress the priorities for industry
  • Keeping a watching brief on issues of common interest; agreeing with IGD input into other relevant IGD Industry Forums or networks, identifying specific action required, and who is best placed to own this
  • Actively supporting existing IGD Social Impact programmes, including through sponsoring workstreams
  • (As leaders within their organisations) encouraging colleagues to participate in relevant IGD industry initiatives, noting that all programmes are voluntary
  • Building relationships with relevant stakeholders (including government and academics) to influence positive change and develop insight
